2011 Nissan 370Z GT Edition

The Nissan 370Z GT Edition recognises its heritage with a nod to the 1970s and the birth of the original Z car: special side stripes.
Grey GT stripes running along the flanks of the car contrast with the each of the special editions three body colours metallic black, pearl white and Black Rose, the latter shade exclusive to Nissan 370Z GT Edition. The exterior is set off by the standard 19inch RAYS forged alloy wheels, which are finished in a dramatic anthracite colour.

The Nissan 307Z GT Edition introduces a number of significant suspension and equipment improvements which have also been adopted by the standard Coup. In deference to the higher average speeds routinely enjoyed in Europe, the changes have been engineered by technicians from Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE). The principal modification has been to retune the dampers to provide the ideal balance between ride comfort and high-speed handling.
Equipment changes include the arrival of a rear view parking camera as part of the Nissan Premium Connect satellite navigation option and the standard fitment of a tyre pressure monitoring system. The advanced seven-speed automatic option now has a snow mode which, when applied, sets the car off in second gear and controls engine revs to prevent wheel spin on ice or snow. Refinement is enhanced by revisions to underbody insulation to reduce road noise.
Unchanged is the Nissan 370Zs exceptional 3.7-litre V6 engine. A development of the unit that powered the 350Z, the all-alloy 24-valve twin cam not only develops more power and torque but is also more response, more refined and more fuel efficient.
The addition of VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) technology helps deliver electrifying performance, the engine developing 328PS and an impressive 363Nm of torque. It is coupled to a short throw six-speed sports manual gearbox or a seven-speed automatic.
When in S-Mode, the manual transmission features Nissans Synchro Rev Control to ensures perfect rev matching when the driver is changing gear, delivering perfect heel and toe changes every time.
Sensors on the clutch and on the gear lever itself monitor driver actions to blip the throttle on down shifts and maintain constant engine revs when changing up. As the sensors detect clutch pedal movement, the SRC system is primed, coming into operation when the gear lever is moved. By matching this information to vehicle speed, SRC knows whether the driver is slowing for a corner or changing up through the box.
Downshift Rev Matching is a feature on the automatic gearbox, too, which also has Adaptive Shift Control which learns a driving style and adjust shift patterns accordingly.

The Nissan 370Zs chassis is a car enthusiasts dream: double wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear end makes the most of Nissans agile FM (Front Midships) rear-drive platform.
With a shorter wheelbase, wider track and stiffer shell than its predecessor, the 370Z has starred on track as well as on road. The innovative GT Academy programme takes computer gamers who have become Gran Turismo experts on PlayStation 3 and turns them into real race drivers. Now in its third season, winners will again race for a place on the grid in a GT4 race prepared 370Z at the Dubai 24 hours in January 2012 and, perhaps, on to the GT pinnacle, GT1.

BMW M5 2012

The silly game of the 2012 BMW M5 renderings continues, but this time, the photoshoped images turned out to be very good. Alpina325ci, member of the forum 5post, delivers some impressive images of what the next M5 might look like.
The new 2012 BMW M5 is rumored not to be only one of the most aggressive and the fastest M to date, but to also incorporate plenty of green technology, as part of BMWs future plans and investments in the EfficientDynamics program. BMW plans to use several new technologies and a KERS system that will put the new M5 ahead of the current model, both in performance and fuel efficiency.
With the new model, BMW M Division estimates a 20%

Designed for Performance
The M5s secret has always been to remain understated and discreet on the outside, but within lies the beast. The typical M5 and BMW M aerodynamic features are featured on the car. With the new 5er central grille being much larger, the central intake size has been diminished. Wheel arches are swollen to add some mass on the F10s athletic body. A side air intake is placed underneath the character line which climaxes at the wheel arch. The side skirts are more sculptured allowing for good aerodynamics.
At the rear-end, the typical quad exhausts remain with a sculpted diffuser and central intake. A small bootlid spoiler allows the car to remain understated and restrained.

Power
The M5 will inherit a dual clutch transmission which will be unique to the M5, based upon the 7-Speed transmission currently found in the M3. 8-Speed unit will also be available and will be equipped with a stop-start control. The DCT will be operated with steering wheel mounted shifting paddles. The new M5, although not from the beginning, will also be available with optional Carbon Fiber brakes.
The 2012 BMW M5 is powered by an updated version of the engine found in the BMW X5 M and X6 M. The 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll powerplant will peak at 578-horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque.
The 0-62 mph dash should take about 4.4 seconds, even though we expect to see lower track times.
To keep the weight down, BMW will make extensive use of carbon-fiber and aluminum parts, starting with the a carbon-fiber roof. The cars construction will be a hybrid of an aluminum spaceframe for the front section and a traditional steel monocoque for the passenger compartment and rear. Up front will be an independent suspension with MacPherson struts, with a multi-link layout for the rear.
The new M5 will make its debut early next year.

Mercedes C63 AMG DTM Safety Car

The new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is being used as the Safety Car for the 2011 DTM season. Following the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden on 10 April 2011, the new Safety Car makes its debut on 1 May 2011 at the opening race of the German Touring Car Masters season at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Wrttemberg. The V8 Sports Saloon only had to be modified slightly for its demanding DTM task. Responsibility for development and production of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Safety Car was entrusted to the specialists in the AMG Overall Vehicle Development department and the AMG Performance Studio.
Decisions regarding the deployment of the Safety Car are taken by the Deutsche Motorsportbund (DMSB) - German motor racing's governing body - which assumes responsibility for safety implementation and
compliance as well as performing official sports functions in accordance with the DTM regulations. Piloted by racing driver Jrgen Kastenholz (43), the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Safety Car has the job of ensuring maximum safety for the racing drivers and spectators in the event of dangerous situations such as extreme weather conditions, accidents or other incidents. When radioed by Race Control, the Safety Car positions itself at the head of the DTM field and leads the cars around the circuit until normal racing can be resumed.
The new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG being used for the 2011 DTM season scales new heights in terms of design and technology: the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine has an exceptionally high output of 358 kW (487 hp) and a peak torque of 600 Nm. The increase in output versus the standard 336 kW (457 hp) engine is due to the AMG Performance Package, which is optionally available for any C63 AMG model and enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds (Estate 4.4 seconds). For the AMG Performance Package the engine specialists have placed their trust in a technology transfer from the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG: the forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft have been adopted from the gull-wing model. The lower inertia of the three-kilogram lighter components allows the naturally aspirated eight-cylinder engine to rev freely and respond even more promptly. Distinguishing features of the Performance Package include the variable intake manifold painted in titanium grey and the AMG high-performance braking system with compound brake discs at the front axle.
New equipment includes the innovative AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, which incorporates a wet start-up clutch and four transmission modes as well as double-declutching and RACE START functions for optimum driving dynamics. Distinguishing features of the current model include the aluminium bonnet with modified powerdomes, the new radiator grille, the new headlamps, the new AMG rear apron with a distinctive black diffuser insert and active rear-axle cooling. To optimise radiator inflow, the AMG front apron on the DTM Safety Car features enlarged openings and side air outlets, while the AMG carbon-fibre spoiler lip on the boot lid reduces lift at high track speeds. In keeping with this design, the DTM Safety Car also sports AMG carbon-fibre exterior mirrors.
Outstanding grip thanks to differential lock and 3-stage ESP
The adjustable coil-over suspension together with the differential lock and the 3-stage ESP ensures a high level of agility and outstanding grip on the race track. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG DTM Safety Car is shod with multi-spoke AMG light-alloy wheels painted in matt black with a high-sheen rim flange, 235/35 R 19 front tyres and 255/30 R 19 rear tyres.

The AMG high-performance braking system has been optimised for the race track: compound brake discs with six-piston brake callipers at the front axle and steel brake discs with four-piston brake callipers at the rear axle; all of the discs are internally ventilated and perforated. Meanwhile, the AMG sports exhaust system with special rear silencers produces an unmistakable AMG V8 sound.
Distinguishing features of the DTM Safety Car compared to the standard C63 AMG include distinctive DTM Safety Car logos, the LED light bar on the roof and the stroboscopic flashing LED lights at the front and rear. A number plate illuminated with LEDs and the words "Safety Car" on the boot lid make the car easier to see in poor weather conditions. To facilitate communication with Race Control, the Safety Car is fitted with a radio system and a TV monitor. Two AMG sports bucket seats with four-point seat belts provide ideal lateral support for the driver and co-driver, while the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Alcantara with steering-wheel shift paddles assures optimum vehicle control.
DTM Safety Car from Mercedes-AMG since 2000
Mercedes-AMG has provided the Safety Car ever since the "new" DTM's inception in 2000 and alternates with Audi from race to race. The flagship V8 C-Class model from AMG has been used in DTM since its launch in 2008. To help ensure safety on the race track in the Formula-1 World Championship, the SLS AMG is used as the Official F1 Safety Car, while the Official F1 Medical Car is a C63 AMG Estate.

Ducati Diavel

Ducati have unveiled the Diavel power cruiser at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan, and released pictures and a video.

The Diavel's 1198cc Testastretta engine has 162 horsepower, and a thumping 127Nm of torque. With a dry weight of only 210kg, performance should be good. A 240 series tyre puts it to the ground through a massive single sided swingarm.

The Diavel has a huge 8"(200mm) wide rear rim in a 14 spoke design, while the Carbon model has lightweight alloy Marchesini rims. An ABS controlled set of Brembo monoblocs and 320mm discs up front are mounted in a set of 50mm Marzocchi USD forks.

The Diavel is available in two versions: Diavel which features a red/black or white/black colour scheme, and Diavel Carbon, with a black/red, or black on black livery. The Carbon also features a host of lightweight carbon and aluminium bits, as the name suggests.

Ducati 1000 CC

Ducati 1198 SP

Awesome Ducati SBK for several generations, an invention is even more desirable, since the beginning of 1098 / 1198, released in 2007 series, extended later 1198 in powerful 2009 cubic centimeters. Gorgeous, emotive and devilishly hard, Ducati 1198 is very special.

But for fans of bags, especially the Italian motorcycle fan, based on 1198 may not be very special.
Re-enter the award to Ms Ducati Superbike 1198 2011.
SP is a synonym for the production of sport, which is the nomenclature that Ducati has been used for decades indicate some of the top models in the range of his superbike series. This line is extended to 851 SP that debuted in 1989.
Additional equipment, powerful 1198 SP adds all the bits of the old 1198 S (suspension Ohlins and false Marchesini in), as well as a clutch of fast Ducati, Ohlins TTX (former T36PR), pantoufle shocks and an aluminium fuel tank. Sells for $21.795, only $200 more than the previous version of s.
Ducati 1198 achieves significant improvements for 2011
In Italian motorcycle terms, the value of the cultures of rarely speak. But the basic model, the Ducati 1198 MY2011 is a value added proposition.
For the same price of $16.495 loaded in 2010, 1198 base comes now with Ducati Ducati traction control gearbox of Ducati as Analyzer fast standard data.
The old 1198 S replaces the SP again discussed here. 1198 Corsica $39.995 is removed from the range of 2011. Anyone who has an 1198 R contained special approval or Superbike, production was minimal, according to Ducati.
Also in the Superbike Ducati alignment is the new 848 EVO, which we recently tried the famous circuit of Imola in Italy

Italian dream date
If we had the historic Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, it costs some sessions in 848 EVO. With much more energy than a 600cc supersport and a superb chassis similar to Ms 1198 848 machine puts considerable ass around a race track.
Although the power of the 140 crankshaft is more than enough SP 1198 offers a supplement of 30 caballos-parte Ms keeps same engine optimization in 2010, if the SP should double the 147 hpAbbiamo seen on rear wheel of the 1198Ns s tried last year.
But in the mountains of the couple that has our attention during the removal of the pits in Imola, the front wheel is regularly produced the bridge with some deaf couple of rear wheel 87 pounds. 350 Cm3 extra from 1198 to grunt in 848 is impossible to ignore, brutally catapult of output from all the corners and making 848 saw a wimp compared.
And while speeding up, you will enjoy the new Ducati. Use a micro-conmutador of Exchange that provides a brief interruption in the fuel/spark Bang out top at full speed without dipping into the clutch. This is simply not practical for a pilot, but also reduces the time of journey of 230ms few seeking a reduction of 65% of the time.
DQS worked perfectly under my feet, while a runner in the event, said that it was not good enough as a Dynojet quick changeover. The quality of reducing deviation of Ducati is one of the few excellent areas for motorcycles, which mitigates the hand higher DQS. The 1198 also received this upgrade.

Ducati

In 1926, Adriano and Marcello Ducati founded a company that specialised not in motorcycles, but the production of radio components. During the war years, they turned their attention toward electronic military equipment. This move made their factory a target for allied bombing, but despite frequent, serious damage, they managed to remain in production. In 1950, Ducati launched their first motorcycle, which was based on the already well established Cucciolo engine. This power unit, designed by Aldo Farinelli, was originally created as a strap on motor for push bikes. By the time Ducati adopted it, 200,000 units had been produced. This first creation by Ducati was capable of 40mph and 200 mpg and weighed in at 98 pounds. These bikes were badged as 55M or 65TL.

Post-war economic growth put more money in Italians' pockets and with it the need for something more sophisticated, so at the Milan Show of 1952, the company introduced the 65TS and the cruiser, which was the first four-stroke scooter in the world. Unfortunately, the public didn't embrace the idea as Ducati had hoped, and the model was withdrawn the following year with sales barely reaching the 2,000 mark. At this time, Ducati were still making electronic equipment, so the decision was made to split the company and Ducati Elettronica SpA was created under separate management.

Ducati Meccanica SpA, led by Dr Guiseppe Montano, became the motorcycle manufacturing company that we know today, and by 1954 were turning out 120 units per day as the factory was modernized with government aid. Although Montano was appointed by the government, he was a genuine motorcycle lover and realised the potential of racing to induce customers to buy his machines. By 1956, the Desmo Ducati 125 won its first race in Sweden. The Grand Prix at Hedemora saw the Ducati lap every other motorcycle. Sadly, the man who achieved this feat, Gianni Degli Antoni, died during practice for the following race. This unfortunate accident hit Ducati hard, and it wasn't until 1958 that they could once again challenge MV Agusta.

As the 50's drew to a close, the Berliner Brothers picked up the American franchise and pushed Ducati to the forefront in the USA. With no little flair, they began punching above their weight and mounted a serious challenge to the wave of Japanese machines that were coming into the country. At this time, the company was also enjoying success in other export markets as well as at home. In the mid sixties, Ducati became the Italian outlet of Standard-Triumph cars and Leyland vans and trucks. It seemed as if they could do no wrong, but the American market was about to give them a reminder of the fragility of success. Ducati insisted on pushing their 50cc two-strokes on the American public. Although these machines had accrued many sales in Italy, the contrary was true of the USA, as the nation snubbed what were in fact very good machines. Rather than heed the warning, the company pressed ahead and created a 100cc two-stroke, when they really should have been developing their much loved sporting four-strokes. Berliner suffered to such an extent, that they refused one shipment of bikes because they didn't have the money to pay them, even if they could have sold them in the States.

As Ducati struggled to compete with the mass produced Japanese motorcycles, the future looked gloomy, but once again they turned to their racing roots, creating 750's which took first and second places at Imola in 1972. A major coup for the company was the securing of the services of rider, Paul Smart, who was at that time racing for Kawasaki. The story goes that he wasn't at home when the call came, but the financial lure was so strong that his wife accepted the offer on his behalf. Success at Imola sparked the beginning of the love affair between big racing bikes and Ducati.

Today, Ducati riders are some of the most loyal when it comes to brand allegiance. Their reward is to be the owner of one of one most strikingly beautiful machines available. The company has achieved success by following its racing roots. At the company's headquarters, you can visit the museum and re-live over 50 years of racing history.

2008 Ducati 848

2008 Ducati 848

Ducati has introduced their 2008 lineup and the 2008 Ducati 848 breaks cover with a 134 horsepower engine in a 369 pound package, giving the 848 a better power to weight ratio than the 999. Looks like a nice addition to their middleweight models.

From Ducati:

The words agile and refined aptly describe the 848. At 168 kg (369 lbs) the 848 is an amazing 20 kg (44 lbs) lighter than its predecessor, and a significant 5 kg (11 lbs) lighter than its larger capacity brother, the 1098.

The highly advanced 848 engine uses an improved method of engine case production in which cases are vacuum die-cast formed. While providing significant weight savings of more than 3 kg (6.5 lbs), this method also ensures consistent wall thickness and increased strength. Further refinements include a sophisticated wet clutch that offers 1 kg (2.2 lbs) less weight, a much higher service life, improved clutch feel and quiet operation.
