Cars body Tuning Models

Body tuning involves adding or modifying spoilers and a body kit. Sometimes this is done to improve the aerodynamic performance of a vehicle, as in the case of some wings or bumper canards, or, to lighten the vehicle through replacing bodywork components such as hoods and rear view mirrors with components made from lighter composites such as CFRP. Cornering speeds and adhesion can be improved through the generation of downforce.

More often however, these modifications are done mainly to improve a vehicle's appearance, as in the case of non-functioning scoops, spoilers, wide arches or any aesthetic modification which offers no benefit to performance. Very rarely does an after market spoiler or body kit improve performance, the majority add weight and increase the drag coefficient of the vehicle and thus reduce its overall performance.

Increasing the wheel track width through spacers and wide body kits enhance the cars cornering ability. Lowering the center of gravity is another aim of body tuning dealt with via suspension modifications. However, similar to the addition of non-functioning body kits and spoilers, oftentimes suspension tuners unfamiliar with spring dynamics will cut stock springs, producing a soft, bouncy ride. It is also common to lower the car too far, past the optimal center of gravity, purely for appearance.

CFC Proves There's No Limit to Bad Taste with Chromed-Out Hummer H2

Leave it to a German tuner to take something already gaudy by nature and make it even more garish and ugly. "Take your Hammer and drive it sexy", says CFC in the press release on the pimped-out Hummer H2 (with a "u" and not an "a"). Too bad it doesn't say 'where', but let's not make this post more inappropriate than it already is. After a lengthy visit at their warehouse, CFC's tuning team went ahead and stuffed the Hummer H2 like a Thanksgiving turkey. Starting from the outside, the 'chrome' vinyl wrap is complemented by tinted windows, a carbon wrap for the bonnet and a set of uber-discreet 'CFC' stickers.

The H2 rides on massive 28-inch TunerShop light-alloy rims shod in jumbo-sized 325/35 R28 pneumatic tires by Kumho. Other exterior 'upgrades' include the four tail pipes, additional lights, chromed side guards and let's not forget, the Lambo-Style-Doors.

CFC's decorators really outdid themselves with the H2's interior. Applying lessons learned from the cheesiest of limo-makers, the SUV's cabin has been fitted with no more than... 17 LCD screens plus an HD TV, (on the ceiling, sunscreen, central console between the front seats, trunk and doors), a DVD-player, a 1.360-Watt RMS music system, a mini bar and probably some other thing we forgot to mention.

Style-wise, the seats have been upholstered in black leather with yellow stitches while there's also a new rear sofa and yellow decorative trim on the dash.

Finally, CFC also tampered around with the Hummer H2's engine which now puts out a total of 480HP. For better or for worse, the German tuner did not release details on pricing.

Wiechers Alu front bottom strut brace

Received my Aluminium Wiechers bottom strut brace (front bottom 52).
Easy to mount it yourself, just make sure there is not tension on the front wheels.

My car has 30mm lowering springs, I have about 10cm ground clearance left. Be careful with those in the middle of the road speed bumps.

New Airfilter kit

I've been thinking to change my K&N 57i kit to a closed airbox kit to get colder air to the engine.
The K&N kit is nice but sucking warm air on top of the engine isn't very optimal.

This kit takes the air straight from the radiator opening in the front bumper. It transports the cold air straight to the engine trough an carbon airbox from Pipercross.

The airbox used is from Pipercross and is called Viper. We added a few parts to make it fit on the 107.

The pipes are nicely mounted on the engine and unable to move or rub against anything.

his is the testsetup, we are going to make it a bit nicer with nice pipes and braces so it doesn't look like a home made kit.

C1Cup manifold and exhaust - UPDATE 5 Cat fixed

My order has arrived at De Snelle Leeuw. All new C1Cup Manifold and exhaust.
I am testing this version, De Snelle Leeuw will have the whole kit available soon.

UPDATE
Kit is installed. Looks good, nice quality, fits pretty good (except the holes on the manifold need to be adjusted a little). You don't have to take your front bumper of to install.

My initial thoughts.
Rear silencer is really quiet. It's sounds nice and sporty but very social.
Performance, it feels like I have move power over the whole rev range, you can feel it when you drive. 2500 rpm to drive 100Km/h. I am on a Dyno next week to get some real performance numbers. Stay tuned!!

For the dutch readers.
I'll put all info on de Citybugclub forum (need to be a member first) when I have some time.

UPDATE 1

Price update.
Manifold - 199
Middle pipe - ?
Exhaust - ?

When available orders can be shipped internationally.

UPDATE 2

- Yesterday my engine light went on, I had it checked and it looks like this sports Cat is on the limit of what the Computer allows. So no problem just a Cat sensor.
I am checking if the chip people can fix this in the computer.

UPDATE 3

Did a dyno run today.
Here are the results
80.6BHP @ 5665RPM - 119Nm @ 2942RPM that about 5-6HP increase.

A bit weird as the dyno run after chiptuning (few months ago) is much higher.
But today's data look much more realistic.

Next Dyno (19-9-2009) run is without the manifold and exhaust, on the same dyno. This will give us something to compare and will tell us what the Manifold and exhaust actually adding.

UPDATE 5

We've fixed the Cat. I've been in contact with the fabricator in Italy through a contact from C1 Aygo 107 Club Italy, we've moved the sensor to the back of the Cat and it seems to be working. A bit stupit that it was something as simple as that. I made a trip of 310Km today and the engine light did not switch on.
