Jaguar XJ
The original XJ was the last car designed by Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons and the latest car to wear the nameplate is as innovative, beautiful and desirable as its famous forebear.
Revolutionary, not evolutionary, the Jaguar XJ is truly a product of the 21st century and is the clearest indication yet of the singular sense of purpose behind Design Director Ian Callum's vision for the future of Jaguar.
The unique full-length panoramic glass roof that floods the cabin with natural light allows the Jaguar XJ to offer an unrivalled sense of spaciousness and occasion for driver and passengers and at the same time retain the sleek coup-like profile and lithe stance for which Jaguars are famous.
Lightweight aluminium architecture
The mould- breaking styling is matched by similarly impressive construction techniques pioneered by Jaguar. The lightweight aluminium structure - 50 percent of which is made from recycled materials - offers improved fuel consumption and reduced emissions. In conjunction with a lifecycle approach to design and manufacture this allows the Jaguar XJ to minimise its carbon footprint.
The weight saved by the use of aluminium - an average of 150kg compared to its rivals - also has benefits for performance and agility and is complemented by the most advanced, powerful and efficient Jaguar powertrains ever. The choice of engines has been enlarged for the 2012 range with the fitment of a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine (market specific). All engines are coupled to a shift-by-wire, six-speed automatic transmission controlled by the JaguarDrive Selector or steering wheel-mounted paddles.
The cabin of the Jaguar XJ blends elegant, contemporary design with the comfort, luxury and unmistakable sporting style of a Jaguar. Chrome and piano black detailing provides an eye-catching contrast to the beautifully-crafted leather and wood veneer surfaces. Both standard and long-wheelbase models are available, for an even more sumptuous and refined experience for rear seat passengers.
Advanced new technology has allowed Jaguar's interior designers to create an environment more akin to a state-of-the-art living space than a car cabin. Stunning 12.3-inch high-definition virtual instruments complement an innovative Dual-view 8-inch Touch-screen that allows the passenger to view DVD movies or TV programmes while the driver is provided with vehicle functions or satellite-navigation directions.
Premium surround sound options include the top-of-the-range 1200W Bowers & Wilkins system that is comparable in audio quality to the best in-home entertainment. Advanced infotainment features also include hard-drive based audio and navigation systems and comprehensive connectivity for portable audio and video devices via the powerful Media Hub.
2012 enhancements
Subtle enhancements to the cabin are now available for the 2012 XJ range to allow greater personalisation and flexibility of use. A new Rear Comfort Pack offers seats that now feature electric adjustment of the backrest recline angle, four-way lumbar support and a massage function. Increased comfort is also provided by new winged headrests, footrests and the ability for the front passenger seat to be stowed away forwards when unoccupied to increase legroom even further.
On the long-wheelbase Portfolio derivative a new 'Executive Pack' transforms the rear of the Jaguar XJ into a high-speed mobile office space with the provision of fold-down laptop trays and an electric rear sunblind for increased privacy. The package also includes upgraded carpeting, combination wood and leather steering wheel, gloss wood veneer choices and chrome mirror housings.
Jaguar has always listened closely to customer feedback and in the case of the Jaguar XJ, this has led to a new interior colour combination. Available with the Premium Luxury and Portfolio trim levels the Jet/Ivory option features ivory seating with contrast jet stitching, piping and upper surfaces while the headlining is available in either colour, according to customer preference.
All Jaguar XJ variants are now available with an Illumination Package derived from that offered as standard on the Supersport model. This comprises illuminated treadplates, boot latch and front and rear air vents.
"An XJ should be the ultimate in comfort, design and refinement. The bespoke interior changes we have incorporated for the 2012 model make it an even more special car to drive or be driven in." Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars

Jaguar XKR
The Jaguar XK was the first car created entirely under the aegis of Design Director Ian Callum. Dramatic and purposeful, yet as sensuous as only a Jaguar can be, the XK now receives a number of revisions that reinforce its contemporary, assertive character.
The latest lighting technology has allowed the front headlamps to be made slimmer and at the same time incorporate LED signal functions and running lights. Combined with a larger grille and new bumper design, this gives the XK instant 'rear-view mirror' recognition. Unmistakably a Jaguar, each model in the range gains unique styling attributes that distinguish it from its siblings. Chrome mesh grilles on the XK are replaced with matt black detailing on the XKR while the flagship XKR-S receives a unique front bumper underlining its sense of purpose.
The power vent along the front wing has been altered from a vertical to horizontal design with a mesh insert. Emblazoned with the Jaguar name, it serves to emphasise the potential inherent in the XK's design. To the rear, the boot lid has been revised with a slimmer chrome finisher which allows the car to be graced by the famous Jaguar 'leaper', bringing it into line with the rest of the company's products.
Complementing the design changes are 17 paint colours, five of which are new and a range of alloy wheels that now total 11 different designs ranging in size from 18 to 20 inches. A further opportunity for owners to express their individuality is available through the 'Black Pack', now also available as an option on the naturally aspirated cars as well as the Jaguar XKR. This replaces exterior chrome with a matt black finish, complemented by 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels. On the Jaguar XKR, the package also includes body coloured aerodynamic enhancements and optional side graphics.

Jaguar XKR-S
Making its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar XKR-S is the most extreme expression yet of Jaguar's passion for building beautiful, fast cars. For the first time with a series production car, Jaguar gains entry to the exclusive '300kph club' thanks to the effortless performance of the supercharged 5.0-litre AJ-V8 engine. A revised fuelling map means the direct-injection powerplant now produces 550PS and 680Nm of torque. Extensive recalibration has ensured that power delivery and performance are seamless, contributing to a 0-60mph time of 4.2 seconds. The Performance active exhaust encourages and rewards the enthusiastic driver with dramatic, motorsport-inspired aural feedback.
The Jaguar XKR-S is not merely the quickest Jaguar ever but also the most agile, responsive and driver-focused. The pinnacle of the XK range builds on feedback gathered from the supercharged XKR and has been developed to extend the performance parameters of the car. This new harder-edged character allows the enthusiastic driver to explore the outer limits of the car's dynamics without losing the refinement and usability for which Jaguar is famous. The structural integrity of the lightweight aluminium platform allowed the suspension to be reworked with bespoke components for increased stiffness without a commensurate loss in either refinement or Jaguar's legendary ride comfort. A reworked aluminium front suspension knuckle and revised rear geometry are allied to stiffer springs and dampers, lightweight forged alloy wheels and recalibrated steering effort to minimise any response delays and produce a more connected and agile driving experience.

Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback
The story of the Chevrolet Cruze goes from strength to strength with the latest chapter heralding the launch of a new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback model, further evidence of Chevrolet's intention to bring value for money to all mainstream segments in Europe.
A show car version of Chevrolet's compact contender will be seen for the first time at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, on September 30. It will be one of four world Chevrolet premieres at the show.
With the introduction of the new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback, customers have an alternative body style to the traditional sedan and Chevrolet has raised the bar again with a vehicle that brings new levels of value against some of the more established competition.
According to Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe, the potential for meeting further customer demand is significant. "Cruze is turning out to be a real success story. We are selling it in 70 countries around the world and it has recently surpassed the Aveo as our top selling passenger car nameplate globally.
"Hatchbacks play a critical role in many markets. The total compact segment in Europe represents around 4.8 million units which is over a quarter of the total market, with hatchbacks representing around 65% of that volume. We therefore expect to see increased business in a number of regions, while sending out a signal that Chevrolet is now a serious mainstream player in Europe."
Since its launch in the spring 2009, the Chevrolet Cruze sedan has been warmly welcomed by markets all over the world, greeted as a step change for the brand with customers attracted to its coupe style, build quality, 5-star NCAP rating and driving dynamics. It was also elected the AUTOBEST car of 2010 by a jury of leading auto writers in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Chevrolet Cruze is a car particularly well suited to European driver tastes, a fact borne out by sales success across many of markets. So far in 2010, Chevrolet Cruze tops the compact sedan sales charts in many of the larger European markets including Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the U.K., where it is exceeding forecasted sales.
Outside of Europe, Chevrolet Cruze's sales momentum is equally evident. In China alone, Chevrolet has sold nearly 90,000 Cruze since the start of the year, while the sedan is also selling well in Russia, parts of South America, and in India and other emerging markets.
Hatchback design
With its attractive sweeping coupe roofline and short overhangs at both the front and rear, the new Chevrolet Cruze hatchback has the same dynamic 'stance' as the sedan and will be instantly recognizable. It will benefit too from the same taut body 'feel' on the road, being built using the new body-frame integral system (BFI) which is complemented by the final tuning to chassis components. The BFI system results in high levels of stability and solidity.
Cargo capacity for the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback is close to 400 liters and will feature 60/40 split rear seating.
Chevrolet's participation in the World Touring Car Championship with the Chevrolet Cruze is also currently paying great dividends. With four races left in the season, it currently leads both the drivers' and team championships while also showcasing the dynamic qualities of the car to great effect.
The new Chevrolet Cruze 5-door hatchback will go on sale across Europe mid 2011 with prices announced nearer the launch date.

Jaguar XF
A saloon with the soul of a Jaguar sports car, the XF has won accolades and enthusiastic fans across the globe for its dynamic abilities and dramatic looks. Advances in lighting technology have allowed the new 2012 Jaguar XF model range to adopt the bold Jaguar design language introduced on the flagship XJ saloon.
Sheetmetal revisions to the grille, bonnet and front wings incorporating new triangular side vents give the car a more muscular, purposeful appearance. The range-topping XFR receives its own unique, overtly assertive design to underline its performance potential while an alternative 'Aerodynamic' option is available on all other derivatives for a total of three dramatically different styling options.
The headlamps now incorporate bi-function HID xenon technology that allows them to be much slimmer and more compact while still providing outstanding beam resolution. They also incorporate LED daytime running lights arranged in a distinctive Jaguar 'J-Blade' signature pattern for instant recognition.
The tail lamps have been entirely renewed and now extend onto the central portion of the boot lid. These new units are now full-LED for stop, light and indicator functions and give the Jaguar XF a distinctive night-time rear signature. Separating them is a revised boot lid finisher with a gloss black lower edge for a cleaner appearance. The boot also features power closure on all models.
Three new paint colours and an expanded alloy wheel selection ranging from 17 to 20-inch provide the finishing touches to the revised styling.
'The XF has rightly been recognised as a quintessential Jaguar saloon. It is purposeful yet elegant, with inherent sporting intent in its design. For the latest version we have been able to evolve and enhance that performance character to make the XF the most visually dynamic car in its class." Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars
Jaguar XF Powertrain and Dynamics
Key among the enhancements to Jaguar XF is the introduction of the 2.2-litre AJ-i4D turbodiesel engine. The unit features low-friction pistons and a water-cooled turbocharger to increase efficiency plus active engine mounts and modifications to the sump and block to reduce NVH levels. The result is not only Jaguar's most fuel-efficient engine ever, but one which offers levels of refinement on a par with the previously-fitted 2.7-litre V6 diesel and all the performance expected of a Jaguar sports saloon. Further refinement is assured on all models by the use of additional acoustic shielding and the use of computational fluid dynamics to smooth exterior airflow.
Power output is 190PS with an impressive torque figure of 450Nm to provide the muscular performance expected of a Jaguar. Reaching 60mph in 8.0 seconds, the car will go on to achieve a top speed of 140mph. Nevertheless the unit still manages 52.3mpg on the EU combined cycle - making it the most economical Jaguar ever - and emits just 149g/km of CO2 and is Euro Stage V compliant.
New 8-speed automatic
The engine is perfectly complemented by the all-new 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Specifically adapted by our engineers for its first-time application in a Jaguar, the transmission offers a host of benefits including both improved acceleration and economy. Gearchanges are completed in just 200 milliseconds - four times faster than the average human resting heartbeat - while driver control is enhanced by the ability to perform multiple downshifts using the paddleshift technology. The use of lightweight materials ensures the overall weight remains the same as the previous six-speed transmission, while improved pump design and gear control elements increase efficiency. Standard on all Jaguar XF diesel models, it reduces the CO2 emissions of the 3.0-litre V6 to 169g/km and improves fuel consumption to 44.8mpg.
Intelligent Stop/Start
Also making its debut with the 2.2-litre diesel engine is Jaguar's new Intelligent Stop/Start system, the first time this technology has been seen in a premium diesel saloon. This automatically shuts down the engine in just 300 milliseconds when the car comes to rest, in order to improve fuel economy and CO2 emissions by between five and seven percent.
No driver intervention is necessary, with the engine management software analysing a host of complex factors in order to decide when the engine can safely be stopped. A Tandem Solenoid Starter with a dedicated secondary battery instantly restarts the engine as soon as the driver's foot leaves the brake pedal, ensuring it is running optimally by the time the accelerator is pressed. In order to facilitate this process, the gearbox features Hydraulic Impulse Storage, which supplies oil pressure to actuate the shift elements.
For the first time, all diesel variants are also available with Jaguar's Adaptive Dynamics system, allowing the enthusiastic driver to enjoy the car's outstanding chassis control and discover the Jaguar XF's sporting soul.
Jaguar XF Interior
Whether experienced from the driver or passenger seat, the cabin of the Jaguar XF is a uniquely welcoming and stylish place in which to spend time, using high-end materials in a truly contemporary manner.
Continuing to feature such dramatic 'surprise and delight' elements as the Jaguar Drive Selector that rises from the centre console and air vents that rotate to their open position when the starter button is pressed, the Jaguar XF interior has also received a comprehensive update.
New seats and instruments
Revised front and rear seats incorporate a 'hoop' feature on both squab and backrest that improves not only their appearance but also the support it offers by increasing the seat's profile. New hide colour combinations, veneers and headlining choices increase the personalisation options available to buyers. All models benefit from a revision to the colour scheme on the centre console, fascia and steering wheel where the 'Tungsten' finish is replaced by a more contemporary 'Aurora' theme.
The Jaguar XF incorporates a formidable amount of technology but in true Jaguar fashion it is integrated seamlessly into the function of the car and controlled through a central seven-inch Touch-screen with a new polarising filter for better contrast viewing.
In order to reduce driver workload, additional switches have been added below the Touch-screen to instantly switch between different functions while new graphics are based on those in Jaguar's flagship XJ. The main driver instrument cluster is now a full-colour TFT unit for greater resolution and clarity.
Cutting-edge technology
Three new audio systems are offered on the Jaguar XF, all of which represent a significant upgrade on those previously available. Heading this up is a 1200W, 17-speaker premium set-up, from British audio experts Bowers & Wilkins, which offers concert hall-like sound reproduction.
All audio systems can be specified with a hard-drive based satellite navigation system that incorporates a 'virtual' CD multichanger allowing the owner to 'rip' 10 CDs at a time into the car's memory storage and play them as if they were a physical music medium. The system also now offers a number of different options for connecting MP3 players; two USB ports, one of which is iPod specific and Bluetooth connectivity that allows music to be streamed from a smartphone.
The majority of the car's functions can also be controlled from the driver's seat by Jaguar's Interactive Voice functionality, which provides an intuitive interface for safe, hands-free operation.

Jaguar XJ220
The Jaguar XJ220 is a mid-engined supercar produced by Jaguar in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing as Jaguar Sport between 1992 and 1994. It held the record for the highest top speed of a production car (350 km/h, 217 mph) (although it was modified from standard to achieve this), until the arrival of the McLaren F1 in 1994. The XJ220 is unrelated to other XJ models, despite sharing the "XJ" prefix. In the early days of the company, certain Jaguar employees had created an informal group they called "The Saturday Club" (so-named because they would meet after-hours and on weekends to work on unofficial pet-projects). In the 1980s, Jaguar's chief engineer Jim Randle, as part of that group, began work on what he saw as competition for cars like the Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959. He envisioned what was essentially an updated XJ13 - a lightweight two-seater with a powerful mid-mounted V12 engine. Randle expanded on the idea by settling on all wheel drive for increased traction and better handling and an integral safety-cage so the car could be safely raced at extremely high speeds. From the outset, the intention was to create a vehicle capable of exceeding 320 km/h (200 mph).Jaguar executives who saw the concept were sufficiently impressed to formally commit company resources to producing a car for the 1988 British Motor Show. Tom Walkinshaw Racing was engaged to produce a 6.2-litre version of Jaguar's V12 engine with four valves per cylinder, quad camshafts, and a target output of 500 hp (370 kW; 510 PS). The all-wheel drive system was produced by FF Developments, who had experience with such systems going back to the 1960s and the Jensen FF. The styling of the car was done by Keith Helfet and included scissor-style doors similar to those in use by Lamborghini in several of their cars. The name "XJ220" was assigned as a reference to the targeted top speed of 220 mph (350 km/h). The prototype car was significantly heavier at 1,560 kg (3,439 lb) than other Jaguar racers like the XJR-9. But as it was intended to be, first and foremost, a roadcar, it would be more appropriate to compare it with something like the XJS; in spite of being 30-inch (762 mm) longer and 10-inch (254 mm) wider and even with the added weight of the all-wheel drive system, the XJ220 was still 170 kg (375 lb) lighter than the XJS. The car was officially announced in 1989 with a price of 361,000 ($580,000 USD) and prospective buyers were expected to put up a deposit of 50,000 ($80,000 USD) to be put on the waiting list for delivery. Because Jaguar promised to limit initial production to 220 units and that total production would not exceed 350, many of those who put deposits on the cars were speculators who intended to sell the car at an immediate profit.
The production version of the car was first shown to the public in October 1991 after undergoing significant changes. The most obvious of which was a completely different drivetrain and the elimination of the scissor doors. TWR was charged with producing the car and had several goals/rules: the car would be rear wheel drive instead of all wheel drive; would have a turbocharged V6 engine instead of the big V12; and performance goals of over 200 mph (320 km/h), 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, and the lightest weight possible. The 6.2-litre V12 had been judged too difficult to get past increasingly strict emission regulations, and there were also reportedly some design problems caused by the size of the power plant. It was replaced with a Tom Walkinshaw-developed 3.5-litre V6 based on the engine used in the Austin Metro 6R4 rally car and fitted with twin Garrett T3 turbochargers, generating 542 bhp (404 kW; 550 PS) of maximum power at 7000 rpm and 476 lbft (645 Nm) of torque at 4500 rpm. This engine was the first V6 in Jaguar's history, and was the first to use forced induction. In spite of the smaller displacement and half the number of cylinders, the engine produced more power than the V12 would have. However, potential customers judged the exhaust note to be harsh and the lag from the turbos to be an annoyance. Also missing from the production version of the car was the Ferguson all wheel drive the production car had only rear driven wheels, through a conventional transaxle and the ABS. With the promise of four-wheel drive and a 500bhp Jaguar V12 this sounded like a dream come true for enthusiasts and speculators alike. Unfortunately, when production finally began in the early 90s, the boom had gone and Group B (for which the XJ220 was originally conceived) had disappeared. Not only this but Jaguar had made the unpopular decision to drop the 4WD and V12 drivetrain for RWD and turbocharged V6. This led to disgruntled customers, many of whom launched court cases against Jaguar, only to lose, and ultimately unsold 220s.The car entered production in 1992 in a purpose-built factory at Bloxham near Banbury, and the first cars were delivered to customers in July. Original customers included Elton John and the Sultan of Brunei.Jaguar XJ 220
Many of the initial customers were dissatisfied not only with the modifications to the original specification but the significant increase in delivery price from the original 361,000 to 403,000 ($650,000 USD). Another blow to potential sales was a global recession which took hold between the car's original announcement and its eventual release. This caused many original speculators to not want to buy the car, either because they were no longer able, or because they did not think they could sell it on. Further complicating the issue was Tom Walkinshaw's offer of the faster (by acceleration, not top speed), more expensive and more exclusive XJR-15 which was based on the Le Mans champion XJR-9. Some customers reportedly either sued Jaguar or threatened to sue; in any case, Jaguar gave the customers the option to buy themselves out of the delivery contract. As a result, many of the owners challenged Jaguar in court where the Judge eventually sided with Jaguar. To reduce costs the use of parts from mass production cars had been extensive; for example the rear view mirrors came from the Citron CX 2 Series. In spite of the drama surrounding its creation, a total of 281 cars were made and by 1997, few of these remained available for sale new at 150,000. Nowadays, it remains a sought-after collectible sports car, fetching 100,000+.The XJ220 is not only the fastest but the widest car Jaguar has ever built at nearly 7 feet in width. A racing version called the XJ220C was also made. The XJ220C, driven by Win Percy won its first race, a round of the BRDC National Sports GT Challenge at Silverstone. Three works XJ220C's were entered in the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hour race, in the newly created Grand Touring Class. Two of the cars retired but one XJ220, driven by John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard took the checkered flag to take a class win. This, however, was revoked two weeks later when the XJ220C was disqualified for not running catalytic converters on the cars when the road-going XJ220s did. An XJ220 would also be used in the Italian GT Championship in the early 1990s, although this car had no factory support. During the mid-nineties, the Sultan of Brunei and his brother Prince Jefri secretly bought hundreds of sports cars and had them custom appointed by various companies. One of these is a custom Jaguar XJ220 that has been heavily modified by Pininfarina. Modifications included fixed headlights, replacing the pop-up versions originally installed, and a redesigned double-vane rear wing.In 1992 at the Nard Ring, Martin Brundle drove an XJ220 to 212.3 mph (341.7 km/h). The car's catalytic converters sap the engine of an estimated 60 bhp (45 kW), the catalysts were later disconnected and the rev limiter was increased from 7200 rpm to 7900 rpm in a quest to enable the XJ220 reach a higher top speed. On a later run with the modifications, Brundle took the XJ220 to 217.1 mph (349.4 km/h) (the equivalent to approximately 223 mph (359 km/h) on a straight road).

New Evolutions Jaguar XJR 100 In Jaguar 2011 Jaguar XJR
Sir William Lyons was born on September 4, 1901. On his 21st birthday, he co-founded the company that became Jaguar Cars Ltd and remained its guiding spirit for 50 years. Always a shrewd businessman, his vision created one of the worlds best-known automotive brands. Above all, though, he excelled in the styling of cars and played an active role in creating such famous Jaguars as the XK 120 (1948), the E-type (1961) and XJ6 (1968). He died in 1985.
The commemorative Jaguar XJR 100 and Jaguar XKR 100 embody traditions that Sir William Lyons himself established for the company right from its earliest days a combination of performance, luxury and style that is unique to Jaguar. The Jaguar XJR 100 and Jaguar XKR 100 bring these traditions fully up-todate, and with the inclusion of exciting new sports features from our evolving R Performance range, represent the ultimate road-going Jaguars for the driving enthusiast.

2011-2012 Jaguar XJ The Luxury Design and Full Power Speed
2011 Jaguar XJ and 2012 Jaguar XJ
Using the latest in 2011-2012 Jaguar XJ Car IT systems, Jaguar says it uses Virtual Instruments to prioritize information, as well as creating a real sense of theater for the driver. Replacing the standard cluster are three virtual dials - a speedometer, rev counter and information window with fuel and temperature gauges. The rev counter fades away to display information such as low fuel warnings or radio station menus. In Dynamic mode, the dials glow sporting red. A bold gear position indicator glows red as the rev limit is approached. An 8-inch Touch-screen display in the center manages most of the 2011Jaguar XJ functions, including climate control, audio communications and navigation. Jaguar says the Touch-screen reduces the number of conventional switches to a minimum. The driver can also use an Interactive Voice Control System, which displays a list of voice prompts. This say what you see approach allows the driver to gain confidence in talking to their cars, says Jaguar.
The 2012 Jaguar XJ Media Hub provides flexible connectivity through two USB ports, Bluetooth audio streaming and an auxiliary input, which allow the user to connect with peripherals such as iPods, iPhones, laptops and Blackberries. The audio unit utilizes a hard-disc-drive system. Music CDs are loaded onto the drive. Gracenote software is included to read artist and track information. The
vehicles navigation system is also HDD-based, providing quicker access and the ability to store and update detailed mapping information more easily than CD or DVD based systems.
Any good car design indeed the design of anything of value should tell a story. The new 2012 Jaguar XJ does that, with a visual hierarchy and clarity of intent. We took inspiration from classic Jaguars like the Mk2 and original 2011 Jaguar XJ and created a Jaguar for the 21st century with pure, sensual forms, says Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars.
A full secondary bulkhead, laminated glass in the windshield and side door windows, streamlined aerodynamics and an optimized body structure help to reduce noise levels to an absolute minimum.
A panoramic glass roof gives the car a lower, more streamlined roofline, while enhancing the feeling of light and space inside. But, when the driver chooses to put the power and handling abilities to full use, carefully tuned air intake systems deliver an inspiring engine soundtrack, says the company. The lightweight aluminum structure makes the new Jaguar XJ at least 300 lbs. lighter over steel body. By using 50% recycled material Jaguar has potentially saved three tons of CO2 per vehicle compared to a body made of new aluminum.
Jaguar XJ in Power is transmitted through an enhanced version of Jaguars electronically controlled, six-speed automatic transmission with a fully-adaptive shift system. Other features include air suspension, Adaptive Dynamics (continuously variable damping), Active Differential Control (on Supercharged and Supersport models) and quick-ratio power steering. The new 2012 Jaguar XJ will be available in the US with a choice of three engines a 5.0 liter 385hp naturally aspirated V8, 5.0 liter 470hp supercharged V8 and a 5.0 liter 510hp supercharged V8.

2011 and 2012 Jaguar XF Is The First Sporting Luxury Sedan
Review 2011 and 2012 Jaguar XF
The profile is unique athletic and assertive, the dramatic lines of a coupe enveloping a spacious cabin with four doors and seating for five adults. And the styling is underpinned by the strength of Jaguar engineering and the latent power of the 2011 Jaguar XF dynamic character. Its looks will engage you emotionally, and its driver-focused engineering will do the rest. The 2011 Jaguar XF: a shape that re-draws the boundaries, a striking Jaguar in a long line of beautiful, fast cars. Its abilities defined by proportion long, low and wide, the Jaguar XF clearly has muscle below its softly contoured skin. The strong grille creates a distinctive signature, emphasizing a broad, solid stance. The low nose, sweeping roofline and powerful shoulders add visual dynamism a promise of performance even when the 2011 Jaguar XF is standing still. And the detailing is exquisite and subtle, from the woven mesh of the grille to the dramatically sculpted light clusters; from the side power vents to the large alloy wheels.
The Jaguar XF represents a relaxed, confident and luxurious design supported by outstanding ability, control and performance. This is Sporting Luxury. Inside the spacious interior Jaguar craftsmanship abounds in the exquisite materials and a relentless attention to detail; wood veneer next to textured aluminum and handcrafted leather highlighted by twin-needle stitching. At the heart of the Jaguar XF fascia, a 7 inch Touch-screen controls most major functions, reducing buttons to a discreet panel below the navigation screen. The XFs Jaguar Drive Selector sets the automotive standard for automatic transmission control. Its rotary action is positive and intuitive. The compact design creates space for more technological comforts such as iPod or MP3 player connectivity.
Many features remain hidden until they are actually needed the 2011 Jaguar XF automatic climate control system includes rotating vents that roll quietly and smoothly out of sight when not in use. At night, Phosphor blue halo illumination takes its cues from contemporary design. And the same soothing hue highlights the aluminum-faces of the XFs instruments.
JaguarSense automatically activates the front interior lights and glove box release. And the
optional JaguarVoice controls many features simply by asking. The optional Blind Spot Monitor
takes much of the uncertainty out of lane changing, while available front and rear parking aids make maneuvering easier. Choose the XFs rear camera and objects that may have been obscured when reversing can now be more easily seen.
The Jaguar Smart Key keyless entry system standard on Premium Luxury and Supercharged models is a thoughtful feature that combines convenience with ease of use. Approach the 2011 Jaguar XF with its Jaguar Smart Key, pull the door release, and the system triggers the security-protected opening. Intuitive simplicity in action. Inside, Jaguar intuition continues. Press the start button and the
JaguarDrive Selector rises softly into the palm of your hand, which can now select driving
positions. As the Jaguar XF starts, the rotating vents turn silently from their flush, parked position to
their functional open position, and the navigation system scrolls to its home page. The 2011 Jaguar XF is ready to be experienced.
Every level of the 2011 Jaguar XF audio system features full iPod and MP3 connectivity with available function control through the 7 inch Touchscreen, and includes at least eight speakers plus a subwoofer. The optional Bowers & Wilkins 440W surround sound system is designed in association with one of the audio industrys most respected specialists, who understand sound as deeply as Jaguar understands engineering. Like Jaguar, Bowers & Wilkins pride themselves on their critically acclaimed craftsmanship. Admired by audiophiles, artists and recording engineers alike, their signature Kevlar mid-range drivers and specially designed aluminumdome tweeters complete a sound system tuned by Bowers & Wilkins acoustic experts specifically for the Jaguar XF. The system features a remote
amplifier with Dolby ProLogic II surround sound and 13 speakers plus subwoofer.
Jaguar knows that at the heart of a great car is a great engine. The Jaguar XF 4.2-liter V8s are compact and light, but big on performance and refinement, both engines featuring all-aluminum construction, variable camshaft phasing, four overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The naturally aspirated V8 develops 300 bhp and 310 lb-ft of torque, with wonderful refinement, deep character and effortless performance. The supercharged version uses a rotor-type supercharger, driven from the crankshaft and with helical rotor gears for low noise and coated rotors for high efficiency. It develops an incredible 420 bhp, and up to 413 lb-ft of torque. That is the real beauty of mechanically driven supercharging massive torque and instant, linear responses.
The 2011 Jaguar XF six-speed automatic transmission has superb characteristics. The exceptionally rapid fully adaptive shift system responds to both road conditions and the way the car is driven, to give the smoothest gear shifts and optimum performance. The XFs JaguarDrive Selector adds another layer of driver-centered sophistication precise and intuitive control by using new generation shift-by-wire technology. It offers fully automatic shifting in Drive or Sport modes, and one-touch manual selection through the XFs Jaguar Sequential Shift using F1 style paddle shifts. And the XFs Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system opens up a series of shift modes on demand from the Winter mode to the maximum involvement Dynamic mode, exclusive to the Supercharged XF .
The 2011 Jaguar XF drives as dynamically as it looks. The body structure is light but exceptionally rigid with the strength to underpin outstanding safety credentials and the stiffness to carry a suspension whose balance of comfort and control was honed by intensive Jaguar development. For the Supercharged Jaguar XF, that includes the adaptive damping strategy of Jaguars Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATSTM). For every Jaguar XF it includes Servotronic variable ratio power assisted steering providing minimum parking effort at low speeds and maximum precision at higher speeds. With wide tires, and powerful disc brakes all round. The Jaguar XF combines the comfort and refinement of a luxury sedan with the grip, balance and stability of a sports car.
If sporting is one defining word for the 2011 Jaguar XF; refined is another. The stiff structure, smooth powertrains, and careful attention to acoustic management are essential ingredients for the XFs exceptional quietness and comfort. Outstanding aerodynamics play their part, too, with low
drag and low wind noise going hand in hand. And the XFs V8 exhaust systems are tuned for an overtly sporty sound quality.
The 2011 Jaguar XF light but high-strength new generation steel bodyshell is shaped by Computer Aided Design to be torsionally stiff for precise handling. Two-stage Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) plus TracDSC add to this precision under various road conditions. Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), ABS anti-lock braking, Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Engine Drag Control (EDR) all help optimize braking effort and reduce braking distances without sacrificing
control. And even a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) helps prevent difficult conditions from becoming dangerous ones.
These advanced active features are further complimented by sophisticated passive safety systems such as two-stage driver and front passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, Seat Weight Sensing and Occupant Position Sensing that work as needed in individual circumstances. Add to this Active Head Restraints built into the front seats, and soft-landing technology in the seat belt retractors to soften contact with the front airbags. Of course, you may never need Jaguars innovative safety systems but theyre there to deploy if you ever do.
The 2011 Jaguar XF is a unique vehicle that can be further tailored to your individual style and needs. The key choices of trim and equipment level, the color range, the leathers and veneers, the exact style and size of alloy wheels the Jaguar XF can be customized to your specifications. And when it comes to equipment and accessories, that is your choice, too literally from the seats you sit in to the sound system you listen to, to the way you control the specific features.
